Taxpayer money will be tipped into the development of Shepparton’s new medicinal cannabis facility — but the amount is being kept secret by the Victorian Government.

Victorian Regional Development Minister Mary-Anne Thomas inspected the site at Lemnos last week and announced the government was providing money through the Regional Jobs Fund, but wouldn’t disclose the amount, claiming it was commercial in-confidence.
Asked directly for the figure, Ms Thomas said: “The Victorian Government is working in partnership with Cannatrek. Cannatrek is investing more than $18 million here on this site and we are proud to partner with them in a grant that will assist them.”
When pressed for an answer she said the funding was tightly controlled and focused on the deliverables, which were quality jobs for regional Victoria.
