The Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal will ‘‘comprehensively review’’ the value of all Victorian MPs’ basic salary and allowances.
The current base salary is $163,000.
Mr Walsh has welcomed the launch of an online questionnaire that will allow Victorians to share their thoughts.
"Having an independent tribunal review and set parliamentary salaries is similar to the role that Fair Work Australia has in setting award wages," Mr Walsh said.
"I think it is good for taxpayers best interest that it is an independent and transparent process."
Under the Parliamentary Salaries, Allowances and Superannuation Act 1968 (Vic), Victorian MPs cannot have a basic salary higher than federal backbenchers — which is $211,250.
All MPs are also entitled to a $13,054 work-related parliamentary allowance, including travel, expenses, motor vehicle and accommodation sitting allowance.
"My work related parliamentary allowance is spent on sponsorship of various sporting clubs and community groups, assisting community groups with printing and employing additional staff days in my electorate office so that we can deal with the very large amount of inquiries and request for help that we get," Mr Walsh said.
The questionnaire also asks Victorians to provide feedback on MP engagement, ranging from once a week to never.
People can also provide why they have engaged with their MP for any reason, including complaints, suggestions, discussing certain matters and seeking other information.
Victorian politicians received a 2.92 per cent pay rise on July 1. Premier Daniel Andrews earns just under $400,000.
All submissions must be completed by 6pm on Monday, August 19. Visit engage.vic.gov.au for details.
