Al-Anon Family Groups are made up of relatives and friends of problem drinkers.
In Al-Anon meetings members share experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem of being affected by someone else's drinking problem.
Al-Anon is separate to Alcoholics Anonymous; however, Al-Anon does participate and co-operate with AA during anniversaries and conventions, but meetings are held separately.
A local member shared that alcoholism was a family disease and all members of a family could be affected by one person's drinking — and sometimes friends and employers can be affected as well.
Al-Anon offers hope to loved ones of problem drinkers and understanding to the problem drinker.
Al-Anon wishes to invite members of the public to attend Al-Anon's open public meeting, held as part of this year's AA MiniCon on Saturday, January 24 at 1.30 pm in room 10 of the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre on Lake Rd, Kyabram.
Kyabram Al-Anon Family Groups also hold regular weekly meetings each Tuesday at 3 pm and 4.30 pm.
If you are concerned about someone's drinking you are eligible to attend these weekly meetings. For further details contact 0407 522 496.
