Bred by Geoff and Bernadette Davidson from Moorundlie Poll Merino Stud in South Australia, the ram was sired by Moorundie 388 who sold for $52,000 in Adelaide, back in 2017.
Moorundie always keep semen from the top rams they sell and 388 has bred very well in their own flock.
Mr Davidson said 219 had a good plain body, good staple length and fibre density along with great wool-growing skin.
"He looks good on his feet and has a sound structure and squareness in a young sire only 15 months old," Mr Davidson said.
Moorundie sells 1200 rams a year and runs 2600 stud ewes.
"The sale and the top price were great because they were driven by the fundamentals of demand and lamb and wool price-producers can confidently grow their flock and make some money,"Â Mr Davidson said.
He was delighted the ram was bought by South Australian Merino sheep breeders, Minta Stud.
"Minta are a good stud and enthusiastic breeders so I really hope he does well for them."
Mr Davidson said it was good to see such a strong offering of high standard, quality rams for sale.
"Sheepvention is the biggest multi-vendor ram sale in Australia and it is so well run, it's a credit to the committee and volunteers."
