The competition has been added to the annual Mathoura Speed Shear event, to be held on November 2.
Co-coordinator Anne Robertson said the event will not only be a great chance to display your photography, but to also take photos at the family friendly event.
‘‘It is another outlet to get people involved in the local community, because what we are trying to do is promote the Murray River Council area,’’ she said.
‘‘It is a great way to promote our sights, the incredible scenery here, our event activities and anything else you can find in Mathoura.
‘‘I encourage anyone from a learner to a professional photographer to pick up your camera and give it a go; show us what you see in Mathoura.’’
Competition categories are sheep, shearing and shearing sheds; farming and rural landscape; rural portraits and people (including events) and; Mathoura and the surrounding shire.
Competition entries must be received by October 20. Entry is $5 per photograph, or $15 for five.
Entries will be judged at the event, at noon, with the presentation of cash and prizes to follow.
