Robin and Jayne Hood have offered to open their ‘Sherwood’ garden to the public, for the popular Navorina Auxilliary garden tour event.
Auxiliary president Shirley Willis said the garden is a sight to behold, and urged locals to make the most of the opportunity.
‘‘The garden is looking just beautiful, and those who come along can also enjoy the trade tables or can simply sit in the garden and enjoy tea or coffee, sandwiches, cakes and slices.
‘‘Our open garden tours are usually very popular, and allowed us to raise $3000 for Navorina Aged Care last year.
‘‘Everything we raise is donated to assist in the comfort of Navorina residents.
‘‘Recent purchases have included lift beds and special cushions for wheel chairs.’’
The sprawling gardens at ‘Sherwood’ completely surround the home, running alongside the Edward River and featuring vibrant green lawns.
Each smaller section has a hidden surprise — whether it be a pond, logs, outdoor settings and fountains or ornaments — and each is connected by a formed waling path.
The open garden will be held from 11am to 2pm on Sunday, October 27.
Flags and signs will guide your way to the property, which can be found by turning right on to the Brick Kiln Rd from Wakool Rd, and following the extra-long driveway. The turn-off is about 7km from the Barham Rd roundabout.
Entry is $10, which can be paid at the gate. The price includes your morning or afternoon tea.
