The school’s first production was in 1979, and last week’s 2019 performance was as spectacular as the 39 productions before it, according to principal Rhonda Blacker.
‘‘The first production started with Years 5 and 6 students presenting a melodrama,’’ Mrs Blacker said.
‘‘These were held in the old hall at school with Mr Armytage, Mr Bradley, Mr Lutton and Mr Parker heavily involved in the early productions.
‘‘Edward Public School’s productions were unique as they originally included a three course sit down dinner and a supper night.’’
The production grew quickly to include all classes and in 2003, the school moved it to a bigger venue to cater for all the parents, carers and community members who wanted to attend.
‘‘Production performances have been held in the former Cavallaro’s supermarket, the Deniliquin High School MPC and most recently the Deniliquin RSL Club,’’ Mrs Blacker said.
‘‘The RSL Club supports the school and generously donates the use of its facilities.’’
Last week’s matinee and a evening performances were held for packed audiences, and the items were inspired by past productions.
‘‘The students enjoyed dressing up in costumes, performing for their parents and of course the well-deserved applause from the audience,’’ Mrs Blacker said.
‘‘The staff always puts in so much effort to ensure that Edward’s productions are a success.
‘‘This one brought back lots of memories for audience members and created new ones.
