And now she has reaped the rewards, becoming the sixth weekly winner in this year’s shop local promotion — the Golden Bunny Bonanza.
‘‘Particularly with the water and everything else happening in the community, supporting the town has never been more important,’’ she said.
‘‘Shopping local means keeping locals in business and I shop at as many local stores as I can.
‘‘Our local businesses give back to us, so why not support them and keep giving them the opportunity to support us too?’’
Mrs Smith won a $50 Deni Gift Card just for submitting her entry ticket stamped by Central IGA, where she does ‘‘90 per cent of my food shopping’’.
‘‘I have two great grandchildren so the winnings will probably be used on them for Christmas,’’ she said.
‘‘I would like to thank all of the sponsors and everyone involved, because this is a great way to support our local community.
‘‘If you are not in it, you can't win it.’’
From this Friday, the weekly draws will increase to $200.
There are five of these weekly prizes to give away before the grand prize of $5000 is drawn on December 20.
All prizes come in the form of a Deni Gift Card, which is a Deniliquin Business Chamber initiative and can be spent at any participating local business.
To make sure you’re in the running for the remaining prizes, all you have to do is shop at a participating Deniliquin business. You earn one ticket for every $20 spent, up to 10 tickets in any one transaction.
Simply fill the ticket out and place it in the barrel at IGA or the entry box at a participating business.
The Golden Bunny Bonanza is a Pastoral Times initiative proudly supported by the Deniliquin Business Chamber, and platinum sponsors Central IGA, Central Cellarbrations and Josh’s Bakehouse, Deniliquin RSL Club, Harvey Norman, 2QN and Edge FM, and Intersport Bennetts.
