The smell of bacon and eggs wafted over the Deniliquin Waring Gardens from early on Sunday, as the corellas and cockatoos called out from above the trees.

As is an Australia Day tradition, the breakfast was prepared by the Deniliquin Rotary Club and this year provided for free thanks to Edward River Council.
Those taking advantage of the breakfast enjoyed lovely conversation and the musical talents of the Edward River Concert Band and Sing Australia Choir, who remained on hand to lead the large crowd in a rendition of Advance Australia Fair once the official ceremony got underway.
The formal ceremony included presentations from local Aboriginal elder Stephen Charles and Australia Day ambassador Brenda Norman, before the five Australia Day awards were presented.
