The club now has double the space to utilise, upsizing from four courts to eight.
President Jeff Andrews said the extra courts will allow teams to practice while they’re waiting to play.
‘‘The extra courts gives our club the opportunity to grow,’’ he said.
‘‘We can not only have current players practice while we wait, but also help new players who might want to try badminton get involved.
‘‘We will look to have our regular competitors playing the weekly competition, but also welcome anyone to come out and use the extra courts to learn and practice the game.
‘‘I got to have a look at the new courts and got a tour of the facilities last week, and it just looks beautiful.’’
Mr Andrews said badminton has been growing in popularity, and the upgrades will allow it to gorw further.
‘‘We have quite a few juniors coming through the ranks. We hope they can continue to come down and practice with us each week.
‘‘We also have had quite a few new members join us recently.
‘‘I believe this was helped by the fact that the Deniliquin High School let us play at their Multi Purpose Centre while the stadium was closed for upgrades.
‘‘It’s fair to say that the upgrades have certainly helped us out, as we had a few high school aged players join us during that time at the high school.
‘‘We would like to thank Deni High for accommodating us and for being good enough to let us use their facilities.’’
The badminton players were the first to officially use the stadium following the upgrades, holding round one of their current competition after the official opening last night.
If you’d like to give badminton a try, pop down to the stadium at 7.30pm each Monday.
