To date, Mrs Marshall has raised $16,809 with the help of 43 supporters which has gone towards a total of $18,079 raised by 72 supporters for ‘Eddie’s Village’.
It will all go to the The Children’s Tumour Foundation which supports children and their families with Neurofibromatosis (NF).
The Deniliquin fundraiser was been co-ordinated by Adam and Meg Marshall in honour of their three year-old son Eddie who suffers from neurofibromatosis type 1.
The couple found out about the diagnosis in 2018 and have been working to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Tumour Foundation.
NF is a serious, incurable and unpredictable genetic condition that can cause tumours to grow on any nerve cell throughout the body, including the brain and spinal cord.
Safety awards
Deniliquin’s Paul Fellows and the rest of his Australian Trucking Association of Australia TruckSafe board are celebrating this week.
The board — on which Paul is deputy chair — won two awards in the Australian Road Safety Awards announced online on Thursday.
The program won the Corporate Fleet Safety Award, and was then selected for the pinnacle award — the Founders Award For Outstanding Achievement.
TruckSafe is an industry-led, business and risk management system that improves the safety and professionalism of trucking operators nationwide.
TruckSafe members are required to meet seven key standards to achieve accreditation. They are accredited through independent auditing by qualified auditors and are bound by the TruckSafe Code of Conduct.
TruckSafe is not just technically and mechanically focused but also considers and addresses human safety factors. These include driver health, training, fatigue and speed management. It is the only freight industry accreditation scheme that does this.
An extension of the program is the TruckSafe truck, which is a regular visitor to Deniliquin.
It is a key component of the Deniliquin High School’s Driver Education Program, which was also a big winner in the awards. Read more on page 3.

Home learning
Term 1 of the 2020 school year ends on Thursday, with the Easter school holidays starting on Friday.
But until then, students are continuing their learning primarily at home, and many are absolutely loving it.
Parents have even said their children are more motivated than usual, especially in their own homes.
While students still need to complete the work set out by their teachers, many parents and caregivers have taken their education to the next level by teaching hands on activities such as growing plants and cooking.
Show us what you are doing as part of your home education by sending a photo of your activity to olivia.duffey@denipt.com.au.
Easter hat parade
A number of schools across the state will host their annual Easter hat parades online.
Schools have challenged their students to create something Easter related or make an Easter hat and send a photo to their school to be put in a video or photo-show.
South Public School will be posting their virtual Easter hat parade on Facebook.
Also send a photo of you with your Easter creation to the Pastoral Times by emailing olivia.duffey@denipt.com.au to be published in the paper.
