It was a smaller yarding at the fortnightly Deniliquin Sheep Sale on Tuesday, with limited lamb and sheep numbers remaining in the area for trading this autumn and winter.
There were some handy lambs off feed available, and the regular buying group showed more enthusiasm in a firm to dearer market.
The lead pens of heavy trade lambs sold in a tight price pattern of $193 to $224, with just one pen higher to the market top of $234/head.
Agents advised good quality lambs tracked over 800c/kg carcase weight.
Merino lambs reached $192, but the bulk were lighter weight types that sold from $135 to $170/head. Dorper lambs with weight reached $221/head.
The balance of the yarding comprised a mix of ewes, rams and several pens of Merino hoggets. Big meat bred ewes sold to $248/head.
Lambs – N Wills, $234; T & M Chartres, $224; I R Landale $221.
Hoggets – MK Walsh, $240; I & C Shippen, $148.
