Schools started a staged return to the classroom from May 11, but from next week they will be full-time, after health authorities confirmed it was safe for both students and teachers to return to normal face to face learning.
All of Deniliquin’s primary schools have confirmed they will be be going back full time from Monday.
Edward Public School Year 6 students Aria Taylor, Miley McCully and Braelie Wesierski said they are looking forward to experiencing some normality again when it comes to their education.
‘‘I think we are more than ready to return to school and I am looking forward to things going back to normal. I am not worried at all (about Coronavirus) but we will still follow good hygiene to keep us safe, especially while we are at school,’’ Aria said.
‘‘It will be good to see more of our friends again too, but it will seem different because we got used to doing our work on the computers,’’ Miley added.
‘‘I prefer having the work in front of me, being in class with my classmates and doing hands on activities, so I am looking forward to going back and having the teacher there to help as well,’’ Braelie said.
Over the past two weeks, schools have been working hard to support students to practice good hygiene and implement new routines at school.
Its success has given the community confidence that full-time face to face teaching can resume.
The tried to get comment from local school principals on the return, however they were gagged by the Education Department, which says any comment must come from its media team.Pastoral Times
The department’s media team said it was unable to provide any comment until next week.
