Community groups and not-for-profit organisations were able to apply for up to $3000 for projects or events under round two of Murray River Council’s 2019/20 Community Grants Program.
A total of applications were received to the value of $68,241, with $31,420 being awarded.
Mayor Chris Bilkey said the grants highlighted the large number of positive community initiatives taking place across the area.
‘‘There were many worthy projects submitted for consideration. However with significantly less funding available than the amount requested, the assessment committee had to closely consider the benefits of each project for which funding was sought,’’ he said.
‘‘The funded projects are spread throughout various communities and across a variety of categories that will enhance the liveability of Murray River Council.’’
Council awarded an additional $1420 which, will be allocated from its 2019/20 Quick Response Grant Funding.
