The pair turn heads when they ‘surf’ the company’s massive flat bed truck, and keep the staff company at the Bulmer’s Cabinet Makers’ yard.
The two pups are almost famous in the Deniliquin district, and are among the first entrants in the Pastoral Times’ new Top Dog competition.
Launched on Sunday, the competition calls on dog owners to share photos and stories of their furry friends.
All entries received between now and June 19 will then be opened up to a public vote.
While Mr Bulmer says both dogs are ‘‘absolutely no help’’ when it comes to creating products for his clients, they have helped enhance the business over the years.
‘‘I think they’ve won me more jobs than they have lost me,’’ Mr Bulmer joked.
‘‘Clients are particularly smitten by ‘Pug’.
‘‘She’s 13 now and has been coming to work with me since she was a puppy. I had one client say to me ‘I’m sold’, as soon as they saw I had a pug.
‘‘They are quite lazy, but they get pretty excited about the truck ride to work. But when we get there, they really just like to lay around in the truck or by the pot belly fire.’’
‘Luke’ was added to the family two years ago, and he loves attention.
‘‘They’ll be on the truck when I pull up at the supermarket, and when I get back someone is often there patting them or taking photos.
‘‘Pug is going a bit deaf and blind now, but she would always love riding on the back of the truck. She loves the freedom of it.
‘‘People love seeing her on the back. The running joke is they’ll tell me I either need a smaller truck or a bigger dog.’’
