The online awards format was coordinated when COVID-19 restrictions forced the cancellation of the annual gala awards ceremony planned for June.
The presentations will be livestreamed on October 16, with nominations closing this Friday.
‘‘It’s incredibly easy to nominate high achievers in our community,’’ chamber executive officer Lauren Ryan said.
‘‘We want to hear the stories of people who have gone above and beyond with their customer service.
‘‘It is important to acknowledge and show our appreciation for the high level of customer service that has become accustomed to in Deniliquin.
‘‘I think it will be a nice pat on the back for businesses or individuals who are recognised.
‘‘The online nomination process on our website is very easy, or you can submit it via post as well.
‘‘We have had a slow and steady stream of nominations.
‘‘Each category has a few entries but our individual categories are more popular at this point.’’
There are six awards categories in 2020, including the coveted Business of the Year.
Others include Employee of the Year, Excellence in Customer Service (one for businesses and one for individuals) and Outstanding Young Employee, Apprentice or Trainee, as well as the new Inspiring Pivot Award.
Winners of the individual staff awards will receive a $200 Deniliquin Gift Card.
Members of the public are encouraged to get involved by nominating a business or individual. Nominators go in to the draw to win a $100 Deniliquin Gift Card.
Nominate online at www.deniliquinchamber.com.au/awards by October 2. Nominations can also be sent to Chamber at PO Box 513, Deniliquin.
