It was considered a risky move primarily because of her age, but Total Bliss Massage & Beauty has gone from strength to strength under her guidance during the last decade.
To celebrate her 10th birthday in business, Aimee will tomorrow host a one-off celebration with amazing offers and discounts for existing and new clients. It will run from midday to 7pm.
‘‘There will be savings on all products and people can pre-book for 30 minute, one-on-one make up or skin care consultations,’’ Aimee said.
‘‘Anyone who purchases a gift voucher on the day will receive a bonus value added on top, and you will be able to purchase pre-pay and save vouchers for treatments and services. This pre-pay voucher offer includes our laser hair removal at prices you have never seen before.
‘‘Anyone who makes a purchase on the day will be in the running to win one of two lucky door prizes, and if you spend more than $90 you will receive a goodie bag valued at more than $50.
‘‘It will be a good chance to stock up on the things you love, or to get some Christmas shopping done.’’
Aimee started her career in the beauty industry at Total Bliss in Deniliquin before moving to the Sunshine Coast.
There she worked in businesses that offered clients more of a spa-like experience, which Aimee thought was lacking in her hometown.
So when she returned to Deniliquin and the opportunity to buy Total Bliss arose, she set her plan in action.
‘‘I wanted to create that spa atmosphere for the people of Deniliquin, and to offer some new services.
‘‘The most significant change was adding body scrubs and wraps to the services, which required the addition of showers so people could have a warm shower afterwards.
‘‘We also expanded from three treatment rooms to six, plus an additional mani pedi area — we just needed that extra space to provide those spa services.
‘‘We also completely changed the decor and the ambiance to reflect the new direction.
‘‘People loved it then, and I still get comments about how nice and relaxing the rooms are now.’’
Aimee said becoming a business owner in her early 20s was a bit of a leap, but she had plenty of support from her parents and long-time local business owners Kay and Ian Barnett.
And she said the staff who have worked for her in the past 10 years have also been instrumental in the success of the business.
‘‘The staff, even though there have been a few changes over the years, have really helped Total Bliss to be what it is today because of the passion they bring to their jobs,’’ she said.
