Badminton season starts

Deniliquin Stadium was a hive of activity when the first round of the Deniliquin Badminton Club summer competition was played on Monday.

All of the club’s new players were eager to partake in the competition with high scores a feature of the night.

Shuttle Masters kicked off their season with a 448 to 406 point win against Smashers.

Three game winners for Shuttle Masters were Kaleb Luks and Ian McMillan.

In the other match Hotshots were too strong for Racqueteers with an impressive score of 462 to 382.

Troy Grant, Michael Pisasale, Pam Boulton, Pam Jones and new player Cristina Verdichizzi each won their three games for Hotshots.

Round two will be played on Monday, February 22 with Hotshots having the bye.

Those who are not playing in the competition are welcome to come along and have a practice hit on the spare courts.
