It will hold a week of celebrations, culminating in an all-day party in the store on June 3.
Any purchases made throughout the week, between Monday, May 30, and Friday, June 3, will also go into a draw to win a $500 shopping spree, drawn on the day of the party.
Erryl and Trevor Noonan OAM took over the business from Geddy’s Jewellers on June 2 1972 , which became Noonans Showcase Jewellers in the 1980s.
Trevor and Erryl’s son Andrew began working at the store full time when he returned from college, before he and his wife Cath took over the business in 1996.
Cath Noonan, who has now been involved with the business for 28 years, said it had done exceptionally well lately.
“I know there’s a lot of hard work that goes into it ... it’s the 50 years leading up to it, that’s the hard work,” she said.
“I’m pretty proud of us, because running a small business is challenging enough especially over the last two, three years we’ve had.
“If I can give ourselves a pat on the back, we’ve excelled in the last two or three years, which is quite amazing.”
Noonans Showcase Jewellers has won the 2021 jewellery category at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards in Sydney.
The business has also fit in nicely around Cath and Andrew’s family commitments and children over the years.
However, Cath’s favourite part of the business is remodelling and and restoration.
“That’s sort of like a business within a business... someone will come in and literally we’ll transform their great grandma’s piece of jewellery so they can wear it, that’s my favourite part of the business,” she said.
