As a thank you to the Lions V Districts Cancer Foundation and to assist in their operations, the Yarrawonga Lions Club donated $1000 to the cause.
Skin check roster/volunteer screeners Co-ordinator Wendy Hellebrand was ecstatic with the donation and thanked the Yarrawonga Lions greatly.
“The donation is absolutely amazing and will go towards the running of the unit as we currently receive no government funding. All the funding we receive comes from Lions Clubs across the state,” Ms Hellebrand said.
“We have three consulting rooms with 20 trained dermoscopist and have travelled to 36 towns and are currently full for 2022.
“Before we came to Yarrawonga we had conducted 2400 skin checks. We were expecting another 50 – 60 in Yarrawonga which is always great to see.
“We are always looking for new people to come onboard and assist in the skin cancer van.
“If you would like further information, please send an email to viclionscf@gmail.com
or contact Bruce or Phil on 0417 359 028.”
Yarrawonga Lions Secretary Deb Van Corler said it was a great service to bring to town for free.
“The more people that get their skin checked out for cancers the better,” Deb said.
“The unit is not a medical clinic but it gives people a sense of what may be going on and if they now need to book into their doctor and it’s all for free.”
