Yarrawonga Fire Brigade First Lieutenant Simon Crawford said it was a really successful day locally.
“We achieved what we wanted to, getting around all of town,” Mr Crawford said.
“It was a great effort by everyone involved and special thanks to the parents and children that came down to the station and helped out.
“A massive amount was also raised by the CFA and SES out of the riverbends and caravan park later in the day on Friday with a figure of $4436.20 to add to the tally.”
Fire and Rescue NSW Mulwala Unit member Cathrina Shaw said the Mulwala Fire and Rescue NSW would like to say a very big thank you to all the children and parents who helped out with the stations appeal.
“It is certainly a worthwhile cause and a community event that we all, at the Mulwala Fire station, look forward to participating in each year,” Ms Shaw said.
“It was a thrill to see the excitement of so many little kids checking out the fire trucks, jumping up to sit in for a photo and for the extra lucky, even a ride.
“Mulwala Fire and Rescue NSW would like to thank the community for your generous donations. We would also like to thank the Mulwala Water Ski Club for loan of minibuses.
“A fun morning for a very special cause. Our Children.”
Tungamah Social Club Secretary Monica Brewer said this Good Friday was the social club’s best one yet.
“The 2022 Good Friday Appeal was the best ever in the history of the Tungamah Social Club with a final total of $43 848.36,” Ms Brewer said.
“It was a fun filled day with raffles, car rally, jumping castle, yabby races and major auction. The social club are continually overwhelmed by the support from the local area including Tungamah and Yarrawonga.
“The businesses which sponsored and supported us were simply outstanding and we are very appreciative for their support in light of a few tough years.
“We are a small club who aim to make a difference and support the Royal Children’s hospital as well as Variety Kids, Friends in Common and locals in need.
“We are so very, very grateful to all donors, sponsors and those who supported the cause.
“We cannot achieve this without your support. We do it for the kids.”
Bundalong Tavern Owner Brett Butler said the Bundalong Tavern Good Friday Community fundraiser had a great turnout and it was nice to have a family fun day where everyone enjoyed themselves.
“We had a real mix of local support as well as new faces, both of visitors and new residents to the area,” Mr Butler said.
“It was fantastic to see a number of new people coming to the area.
“It was also great to raise money for children through both Variety and the Good Friday Appeal.
“We are now looking forward to hosting more family fun events throughout the year and into the future.”
