Happily, the anniversary coincides with World Laughter Day.
Laughter Club founder Lesley Hills says a celebration will be hosted at the Deniliquin Waring Gardens.
"We will be getting together for a picnic and some laughter in Waring Gardens at 11.30am,“ she siad.
“Anyone is welcome to come along; just bring your own food, drink and something to sit on.”
Cracking catch
Proud grandmother Chris Frampton dropped in to see us late last week with a cracking photo taken over Easter.
Her granddaughter Maggie May Frampton landed herself a 1.09m Murray cod while in Deniliquin for the holiday.
Maggie May and her father Kane hit the Edward River after arriving from Howlong, with Chris in tow of course.
It’s everyone’s dream to catch a cod over the magic one metre mark, and now the little one has bragging rights.
The Framptons were fishing on the Edward about 10km from Deniliquin, and they caught the monster using cheese.
Shoot some hoops
The Deniliquin Sports & Entertainment Centre has a few spots available in this term’s Deni Hoops program.
Hoops Basketball is a skills and development program for Kindergarten aged children, using game-based basketball drills in a fun and positive environment.
No experience necessary. Training is held on Wednesdays at 4pm.
Message the Deni Stadium Facebook page to join.
Service changes
Murray River Council’s customer service centres will have differing hours next week, due to staff training.
Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre will open at 10am on Monday, May 2 and Wednesday, May 4, rather than the usual 9am.
The Barham Customer Service Centre will close early on Wednesday, May 4 at 2pm.
Our call centre is still available 9am-4pm from Monday to Friday on 1300 087 004.
Transfer stations
Another one for Barham residents: staffing arrangements at the Barham Transfer Station mean opening hours will be Wednesdays 1pm-5pm and Sundays 1pm-5pm until further notice.
