Tickets in a raffle for a pretty flash fire pit are currently on sale, and can be purchased at the Mathoura Servo or by contacting the committee for its bank details.
The prize has been kindly donated by Mitchell Dosser of Mitch’s Potbellys and More.

A good crowd attended Mathoura Public School’s first assembly for a long time last week.
The event enabled the school community to particularly welcome the chairman of the Tongala and Mathoura Community Bank, Mr John Bentley, to officially open the Badja Bayaderra mural and wellbeing garden and thank him for the bank’s support of the school.
Parents and friends were also welcomed and entertained by the students on the day.

Further to my support of girls playing football last week, the local Cooper sisters have moved another step forward in competition.
Jemika and Shaleah were selected by the AFL to play in the recent Woomera and Medley game. This is national level selection, featuring the country’s most promising indigenous and multicultural under 16 girl footballers.
Unfortunately their team lost by one point in the last 10 minutes of the game.
But selection in the program provides players with access to a national online mentoring program to improve their leadership and football skills.
This will take place from now until December.
Well done girls - the AFL Women’s competition is definitely a possibly in years to come.

They may not have played for while, but Mathoura Football Netball Club’s special guests for its end of season celebrations will be well known to many.
Dane Swan (Collingwood) and Anthony Koutoufides (Carlton) will be on hand to help the Timbercutters wind up season 2022.
And they are sure to have some great tales to tell about their careers.
