While it will proceed with the Deniliquin and District Wall Of Fame inductee dinner and memorial service as normal in September, the Saturday truck show and expo will be rested this year.
The committee said the format would be reviewed, with a return planned for 2027.
Truck Show committee president Evan Whitbourne said a number of factors led to the decision to put the Saturday event on pause.
“The committee members are all very busy people, and we have struggled to get enough volunteers to help run the day,” he said.
“And in the current climate, it is difficult and there are plenty of shows on around the area.
“It is a lot of work, so we’ll have a year off.
“The Truck Show committee will review and refresh the format, and hope to knock it into shape and revamp it a bit better for next year.”
Mr Whitbourne said planning for the Wall of Fame dinner on Friday, September 19 and the Sunday, September 21 memorial service is proceeding well.
“We’re definitely keen to keep up with the dinner, which will be held at the Deni RSL.
“We’ll keep that ticking away and announce some of the guest speakers closer to the event. It’s always a pretty good night.”
Nominations for the Deniliquin and District Wall Of Fame are still open.
It is designed to recognise anyone who has 20 years of experience or more in the industry, or made a significant contribution to the local transport community.
You can nominate by contacting Warwick Petersen on 0418 379 815 or John Creenaune on 0439 790 116, or online at denitruckshow.com.au.
A memorial plaque order form is also available on the website. Plaques are $95, and once ready will be placed on the reverse side of the Wall of Fame in the north Deniliquin Legends Rest Area.
