The three-event series will see local and visiting horse riders compete in the Open Divisional Barrel Race and Open Pole Bending, with cash prizes for each round winner.
The series will run on a points system, with five points awarded to the winner of each round, four points for second, three points for third, two points for fourth and one point for all other participants.
To receive the points, riders must compete in all three rounds of the series.
The first round will be held at Deniliquin Rodeo Grounds on Saturday, October 12.
The event will start at 10am and finish at 3pm.
Drums & Dust president Elise Huddle is ecstatic that the club, which was established in November 2017, will be hosting its own event.
“When we started the Drums & Dust club we always hoped we would be able to host our own series,” she said.
“It’s definitely happened a lot sooner than we expected as we thought it could take years before we could hold such an event.
“We’ve consistently had about 40 riders at our events, so without the support of them and our sponsors, this would not have been possible.”
The remaining two rounds will be held on Saturday, November 16 and Saturday, December 7.
Rounds two and three will both be twilight events, starting at 4pm and finishing about 10pm.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three placegetters at the end of the series.
Each round will feature seven grades, including Open, Junior Barrel, Tiny Tots/Leds and Encouragement Barrel events, as well as Open, Junior and Tiny Tots Pole Bending.
The Encouragement Barrel is an event dedicated to those just starting out in the sport, for over 18s that have not won or placed in an Australian Barrel Horse Association Open Divisional event or rodeo event.
Deni Drums & Dust will also offer exhibition runs for new riders, with two runs per horse, for $5.
“We’re hoping to get a big crowd out to this event,” Huddle said.
“Entry to the day is free, and we will have amazing food and drinks available.
“We encourage anyone to bring a chair and rug and enjoy the atmosphere of some thrilling barrel racing action.”
More details on the day can be found on the Deni Drums & Dust Horse Sports Club Facebook page.
