The Rhinos closed out batting with 7/282 and, after a slow start to the bowling later in the day, managed to show dominance over Cobram-Yarroweyah United at Cobram.
They managed to keep United to 212, with six outs, by the end of the 45 overs.
Deni were sent in to bat on the Cobram pitch to start the day, after losing the toss.
Captain Brad Todd was bowled by D Langshaw with just two runs, but made way for the day’s biggest partnership.
Germano was the first to drop out of the partnership, stumped by B Andrew on 39. He managed five fours before being sent off.
Edge followed shortly after with 83 — which comprised 13 fours and a six — with the score on 137.
A few smaller partnerships followed but the Rhinos lost the next three wickets for 53 — Boddie Arthur (three), Brodie Bennett (six) and Harry Hillier (one).
Liam Pitts joined Andrew Hogan at the crease and put on 80 runs in quick time, before Hogan was bowled by a slower ball for 76.
Pitts closed the innings with some good hitting, to post a score of 7/282 after Deni’s 45 overs.
‘‘It was good to see Dean and Ash spend some time at the crease and set our innings up with over a hundred run partnership,’’ Todd said.
‘‘They were cruising at one stage, batting well together, but a lapse in concentration saw them dismissed.
‘‘Hoges and Liam finished our innings off perfectly.’’
Todd said his side started off a little slowly with the ball, until Dylan Rotherham took the first wicket by bowling Kane Goldsworthy.
Keiran Andrew then came to the crease and started playing his shots. He put runs on the board quite quickly, and CYU were going at more than six an over.
Hogan then took the wicket of Latessa (bowled) and brothers Keiran and Jack Andrew were at the crease.
They batted well together until Keiran ran out Jack in the middle of the innings.
‘‘Once again Brodie Bennett bowled well to help restrict the run rate. Even though he didn’t take any wickets himself, he contributed to the run out due to keeping the pressure on the CYU batsmen,’’ Todd said.
Pitts was introduced into the attack with great effect, having Keiran dismissed, caught at cover, for 87.
When he was dismissed it brought Joel Ashcroft to the crease, who made 39 in quick time hitting some big sixes and a few fours in his score of 39.
‘‘After we dismissed Keiran we thought the game was in safe hands, until Joel came out and hit a couple of big lusty blows in his innings,’’ Todd said.
‘‘He hit two huge sixes with the wind and it seemed like he would keep CYU in with a chance, but once he was dsimissed the CYU batsmen shut up shop and didnt look to score too many runs after that.
‘‘Overall we were quite happy with our batting performance, but our fielding wasn’t the best so we will need to work on that this week at training.
‘‘It was good to see a few guys get some runs on the board this week and spread the load for us, and hopefully that will continue after the bye this weekend.
‘‘We got the win — which has us sitting at two wins and one loss from the first three games — so hopefully we can get another couple of wins on the board with three games remaining in the one day format.’’
