Starting today, the event will again see a record number of wakeboarders take to the Edward River, with about 70 competitors expected to participate.
Wakeboarders will attempt to earn points for the state titles with round four of the Wakeboard Victoria Championships held over the first two days of the Wake Muster.
Wakeboarders will take to the water today for the seeding round with the event’s finals being held tomorrow.
The action will continue on Sunday, with MasterCraft Boat demonstrations and lessons, with help from eight time World Wakeboard Champion Harley Clifford.
Wakeboard Victoria secretary Kahren Bennett said this year’s Wake Muster will be the biggest event Wakeboard Victoria has held.
‘‘Deniliquin is by far our best competition of the year,’’ she said.
‘‘Looking at the number of entrants we’ve had previously, we decided we needed to hold the competition over at least two days.
‘‘We’ve had to cap it at 70 competitors this year.
‘‘We’ve also got quite a few competitors from Deni this year, which is good to see.
‘‘We’ll have Harley Clifford there all weekend, so he’ll be helping locals and visitors improve their wakeboarding skills.’’
A new event has also been added to the weekend, with the Throw Down Under Big Air competition being held after the round four finals.
Wakeboarders will have the chance to win $2000, and win back all entry fees, in the trick-based competition.
The event will see competitors perform one trick up and one trick back along the course, with the wakeboarder delivering the best trick taking out the prize.
‘‘We’re expecting a big crowd for the weekend, particularly with the Throw Down Under being held,’’ Bennett said.
‘‘With plenty of prize money up for grabs, I’m sure there will be a lot of wakeboarders interested in entering.
‘‘All those who want to enter will need to send a message to the Wakeboard Victoria Facebook page for more details.’’
The Wake Muster will start at 9am each morning, with the wakeboarding action expected to run through late into the afternoon.
The Deniliquin Boat Club will have plenty to offer for attendees with a selection of food trucks at the club today and tomorrow.
The club will also continue to keep everyone entertained late into the night with live music following the wakeboarding action at 6pm.
After today’s seeding round, the Deniliquin Boat Club’s ski school will be held from 5pm.
Clifford and the MasterCraft team holding special wakeboarding sessions, along with the usual water skiing lessons.
This event is a strictly no BYO alcohol event, with refreshments available for purchase at the club.
