The Under 14s Deni Rhinos have finished the Murray Valley Cricket Association season as minor premiers following a dominant win on Saturday.
The young Rhinos recorded a 114 run win against a visiting Barooga side after a dominant day in the field on day two of their two-day clash.
Deni were in the box seat after batting out the full 40 overs and posting 9/154 on day one.
Lachlan Holloway led the way with the bat, scoring 28 runs, while Jake Herberte (25 not out) and Eddie Dudley (18 not out) helped the Rhinos to the big total.
While the bowlers did well on day two — with Charlie Paton (2/0 off three), Noah Bradley (1/2 off two), Harry McIlwain (1/1 off two), Jack Murray (1/1 off two) and Andrew Smith (1/1 off 1.2) taking wickets — it was the fielding that was the highlight of the clash. The day saw three run outs, coming from Charlie Paton, Cooper King and Andrew Smith.
Kane Rattray-Robert was the only Barooga batsman to make double figures, reaching 10 runs before he was caught by Harry McIlwain off the bowling of Charlie Paton.
It was a pleasing result for Deni, who had all 11 players bowl at least one over during the 26.3 overs.
The win has set up another clash between the Rhinos and Barooga this weekend.
Deni will host the Hawks in a semi final clash at Memorial Park at 10.30am on Saturday morning.
