Lee wins pre-national shoot

Colbinabbin shooter Lee Fitzgerald claimed high gun honours at the Deniliquin Clay Target Club’s pre-national shoot on Sunday.

Among a field of 43 shooters, Fitzgerald shot an outstanding 241/250 over the course of the three events.

Event results from the day were as follows:

Event one, 50 target pre-nationals pointscore championship: Open - Wok Kelvy (Echuca) 146/150; AA grade - Brett Ford (Corowa) 145/150 (3/3 in shootout), runner-up Neil Ham (Echuca) 145/150; A grade - Doug Gillis (Castlemaine) 143/150, r/u Ian Gebhardt (Echuca) 142/150; B grade - Chloe Evans (Coleambally) 144/150, r/u Neville Lester (Deniliquin) 140/150; C grade - Ricky Gillis (Castlemaine) 134/50, r/u William Lahn (Mathoura) 118/150.

Event two, 50 target pre-nationals double barrel championship: Open - Brett McAllister (Griffith) 50/50 (53/53 in shootout); AA grade - Lee Fitzgerald 50/50 (2/3 in shootout), r/u Wok Kelvy 49/50 (1/1 in shootout); A grade - Scott Mackenzie (Mathoura) 49/50, r/u Greg Pridmore (Swan Hill) 48/50; B grade - Chloe Evans 47/50 (8/8 in shootout), r/u Geoff Coombes (Yarrawonga) 47/50 (7/8 in shootout); C grade - Ricky Gillis 44/50, r/u David Dudley (Deniliquin) 42/50 (1/1 in shootout).
