From records and memories it would appear his three round total of 212 is the lowest recorded in club history.
Thomas started his championship quest with a one over par 73, followed it with a brilliant second round 68, then finished off with a one under par 71 in the final round. In anyone’s language, that is great golf.
The championships were well covered in Tuesday’s PT so we won’t expand any further here, apart from also extending congratulations to the grade champions as follows: B grade Neil Boswell, C grade Gary Rodda and D Grade Ian Campbell.
Special thanks to this year’s new championship sponsors, Elders Residential and Rural Insurance.
In Saturday’s stroke event the A grade winner was Matt Thomas with a superb 71 (off a handicap of minus one) to give him a net 72. Runner-up on 75 was Barry Barlow.
B grade winner with net 69, the best score of the day, was Thomas Bult from Neil Boswell on 71; C grade Bob Landy with net 74, from Gary Rodda net 76, and D grade Ian Campbell net 78 by a shot from runner-up Peter O’Brien.
Last Thursday the ladies had a small field for their stroke event, won by Denise Hunter with net 72 on countback from Yvonne Holmes.
The golf continues this weekend despite the Coronavirus restrictions with a stableford event on Saturday. Next Thursday the ladies have decided to play a stroke event, instead of the fourball best ball that was listed in the syllabus.
Unfortunately the Royal Children’s Hospital charity fundraiser, which was scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled. Hopefully we can get this event up and running next year.
Don’t forget to strictly abide by Coronavirus protocols and social distancing regulations; this is important for everyone’s health, as well as ensuring we all do the right thing and can keep playing.
Also, the clubhouse is open for your take-away supplies on competition days.
If you get bored over the Easter weekend, why not line up for a game on Saturday, or enjoy a social game at another time (strictly two per group and one per cart)?
