With such strong interest in joining the young team from local children at the start of this year, the club submitted a successful application to enter the Goulburn Campaspe Junior Football League.
Team manager Katie Wren said the new guernseys will make children feel special when they take the field for the first time.
She said it would not have been possible without local support.
‘‘We used the Rams’ guernsey design and had a few of our own local sponsors so we could have unique Under 12s guernseys and training singlets,’’ Wren said.
‘‘We had Hayley Bates from Murray Constructions, Gary Parsons from Express Diesel, Troy Bartlett from Premier Financial Planning and Investment Services all sponsor our game-day guernseys and we had Trudy McElroy from Fanmac Ag farms sponsor our training singlets.
‘‘It will be the first time the Rams have had an U12s side, previously the U14s (fourths) were our youngest.
‘‘We had a lot of children in that under 12 age bracket during preseason, and therefore enough for a team, so we were thrilled when we received approval to join the GCJFL.
‘‘It will be really special for the children if the season goes ahead. They will be making history wearing new U12 guernseys.
‘‘We will have flash new gear to show-off; to have the sponsors come on board was fantastic.’’
The current status for the GCJFL season is still unknown, but that hasn’t stopped Wren from getting the children to lace up their boots.
‘‘We’re going to initially hold two training sessions at 4pm on June 25 and July 2 at the Rams oval to see how we go,’’ Wren said.
‘‘We are tied to a Victorian league so we all have our fingers crossed the season goes ahead.’’
