While Football NSW announced a return to training guideline on May 18, and a junior sport date being proposed for July 1, there is yet to be any formal announcement about the return of senior sport.
Football NSW, however, is pushing the government to announce a July start date.
Its CEO Stuart Hodge said a request was sent to the state government on May 25 seeking an exemption to the Public Health Order.
He said it would allow for games to resume early next month.
At the time the Pastoral Times went to print on Monday, there was no response.
The Wanderers were supposed to start their Griffith District Football Association (GDFA) season on May 10, but all clubs were issued a ‘‘hold to all operations’’ notice due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Deniliquin Wanderers Soccer Club president Jacob Hird said players are keen to get back on the pitch.
‘‘We’re in the process of getting back to training; it’s in the pipeline as per the guidelines provided to us,’’ Hird said.
‘‘We are still unsure how far the GDFA has come to scheduling a season start date.
‘‘I believe it is likely that our Under 18 divisions will return, but we haven’t received guidelines for seniors yet.’’
Training can take place in groups of ten, observing stated social distancing and other measures.
