He tracked wide at his first start since the South Australian Derby (2500m) in May and went down by only a short neck to Group 1 mile specialist Fierce Impact.

Perfect Jewel surprisingly bypassed a mares’ race to tackle Group 1 horses and should atone when she returns to a lower grade.

Rothfire stamped himself as the one to beat in the Golden Rose with victory in the Run To The Rose at Rosehill.
Hugh Bowman set a fast pace on Golden Slipper winner Farnan ($2.40 fav) and the colt weakened to finish fifth.
Farnan joins a list of favourites which lead and are beaten in 1200m races.
Mo’unga and Haut Brion Her were impressive winners at Rosehill to note for more success.
