After a huge first win of the season for Mathoura on Saturday, the Timbercutters will travel to Berrigan tomorrow with a new sense of confidence.
The players and supporters relished at the chance to see some points on the scoreboard and sing the club song following the 101-point win over Yarroweyah.
“It lifted the spirit of the club and the team,” said Gilday.
“They sang the song with gusto. And of course everyone at the club, our die-hards, they enjoyed it immensely.”
With Berrigan sitting in seventh place on the Picola and Disctrict Football League ladder, they will be a tough team to beat.
But coach Stan Gilday is hoping the lift of spirit will make Mathoura competitive.
Heading into the team’s fifth game together, Gilday said fitness and teamwork is improving, which is allowing the side to play a better brand of footy.
Play will start at 2.05pm at Berrigan Recreation Centre.
