The boys got out a flying start with a 4-goal head start in the first quarter. The Centre were doing their jobs well with Tom Forrest, Jaxson Bolger and Jay Lavis winning the ball and delivering perfectly to the forwards who were flying high. Isaac Dickinson with 3 goals and Brodie Julian playing an important role. Angus Coghill was super in defence and Judd Kuschert was all over the ground. The boys were off to a great start.
The second and third saw the boys let the Albury get back into the game. Albury really stepped up their pressure and by the end of the third it was nearly level. Brodie Julian and Tom Forrest in the ruck swapping and working hard to keep our boys in the game. The boys in the backline were constantly under pressure Brodie Eyers, Jack Eales and Blake Keanes really stepped up.
Last quarter, after a spray from the coach the boys lifted and then it was the gutsy efforts such as Caile Duryea who flew for a mark and nearly got folded in half backwards. It was goal for goal and Albury were moving the ball well. But theboys didn’t fold under the pressure and kicked a few nice goals on the run to win a nail-biting finish.
Isaac Dickinson ended up with 6 goals for the day which was a great Mother’s Day present for his mother!
Coach Rippingale was very delighted win his first win. Well Done!

Under 14s
The under 14s hosted Albury at home, with a couple of players unavailable due to illness, the challenge was set.
Albury scored a goal early in the first quarter, then the rest of the quarter was played between each forward line keeping the backs busy. Leroy was rewarded with a free kick after putting his head over the ball and goaled. Scores level at 1 goal each at quarter time.
The arm wrestle continued in the second term; Joe was terrific on the last line of defence. Benji and Hunter were working hard in the midfield, transitioning the ball from defence into attack giving the forwards a chance. Albury scoring the only goal for the term.
Hunter won the first clearance of the third, but kicked it straight into Albury's 50, surprising even the Albury forwards. Tex was roaming the half back line and linking well with the midfield, Ajay was also mopping up in defence and hitting targets. Some good forward pressure enabled Hunter to goal, giving the Roos a sniff at three quarter time.
Albury were full of run kicking 2 quick goals early in the last, threatening to blow the game open. But the Roo boys dug deep and kept attacking with repeat inside 50's, only to register behinds. Tex moved into the forward line and was rewarded with a late goal from some hard work. While Albury ran out 19-point winners, our boys can hold their head high with their efforts with plenty of positives to come out of the game.

Under 12s
A cool Mothers' Day morning met the young Roos as they took to John Foord Oval for their match against Albury. The first whistle set the tone for what would be a tough first half for the boys as the Tigers struck early and often, stretching the Roos' midfield and exposing their backline.
Having given up 47 points without troubling the scorers themselves, coach Patto asked the boys for an extra effort in the second dig. Levi, Will F and Will M stood tall, stifling the forward attacks from the Tigers; and Cooper. P and the two Hudsons scrapped hard, retrieving loose balls and pushing them forward. Lachie and Jake were putting their bodies on the line and at the three-quarter break, Patto praised the boys for their increased intensity. The final quarter was a test of courage and endurance. Harry was the difference at the back, consistently foiling the Albury attacks and Cooper. G made some solid gains through the middle of the park. A screamer on the final siren to Hudson. B wasn't enough to give the boys their first score for the match.
