Going into the game, the seniors had a few changes from round one with injuries and unavailabilities playing their part in team selection.
Katamatite started the game strong, getting clean first use of the footy out of the middle putting the Dees backline under pressure from the get go.
Luckily, inaccurate kicking kept Jerilderie in the game early on and the mids were able to nullify the ease that the Tigers were getting the footy out of the middle and make it more of a contest.
In the second quarter Jerilderie had a lot more of the footy, and was able to get their run and carry going getting back to back entries into the 50.
Unfortunately missed opportunities also had them reeling going in at half time knowing they could have been a few goals closer.
The Dees knew possession was going to be key to staying in the game in the third.
Numerous skill errors cost them greatly, with turnovers resulting in a number of forward 50 entries for the Tigers. They were able to convert their shots and go in with a strong lead at three quarter time.
A depleted Jerilderie fought the game out strong in the last without any bench rotations for most of the second half.
Injuries took a toll on the side, which ran out of legs by the final siren.
Final score: Jerilderie 7-10 (52) def by Katamatite 18-23 (131).
Best on ground: Mitch Conlan, Lachie Leeds and Brad Aylett.
It was great to have Mitch Conlan back at CHF with his endless work rate showing through finishing the game with five majors.
Also a massive thanks goes to the players that backed up playing 17s and reserves.
Jerilderie’s reserves were relatively slow out of the blocks, but battled hard to hold Katamatite - who had a strong breeze - to one goal in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Jerilderie start to fire with Joel Bryce leading the charge, playing another great game through the midfield and banging on the door of seniors.
David Hercus, as he so often does, provided plenty of drive forward for the Dees.
The second half saw Jerilderie hold back a hard fighting Katamatite side, with some great performances from young guns Justin Lawton and Dan Eldridge on the half back line.
Jerilderie managed to keep the opposition goal-less in the last quarter to run away 16 point winners on the day.
Final score: Jerilderie 3-11 (29) def Katamatite 2-2 (14).
Best on ground: Joel Bryce, Dan Eldridge, Justin Lawton.
It was a tough day at the office for the under 17s, but that didn’t stop their desire to improve and work on their skills and game plan.
With a little bit of help from some familiar Berrigan faces, the boys played well and it was disappointing that they couldn’t hit the score board.
Cruz Nash was the soul goal kicker for the day, coming late in the game.
Final score: Jerilderie 1-4 (10) def by Katamatite 7-6 (48).
Best on ground: Cruz Nash, Hamish Cameron, Tavis Lawton.
The under 14s had a great win, keeping Katamatite scoreless and with all players contributing.
James Winn was a stand out with four goals and Charlie Rorato had plenty of the ball and used it effectively.
Darby Edwards-Parsons started the game well with a couple of sneaky goals.
Riley and Arche Boag and Ava Belling teamed up on a couple of occasions resulting in a great goal from Ava.
Kizzi Moore, as always, played hard football all day.
When Harry Rorato ran on for his first game there was a big cheer from the crowd.
Final score: Jerilderie 10-9 (69) def Katamatite 0-0 (0).
Best Players: Charlie Rorato, Ava Belling, Riley Boag and Play of the day James Winn.
With a couple of weeks off until the next game - with a bye after Easter - the boys will be on the track looking at cleaning up their skills ready for Katunga in round five.
