The round three contests see the unbeaten Merrigum on the road.
Steve Lawlor and his Bulldogs charges will meet the winless Dookie United.
Lancaster, also unbeaten after two rounds, hosts Tallygaroopna while Girgarre is home to long-time battler Longwood.
Stanhope also looks certain to get on the winner’s list when it meets neighbour Rushworth, also winless after two rounds.
Mark Patten’s Stanhope has had two tough opening games against likely finalists and premiership aspirants so will appreciate an easier assignment to get its season back on track.
The blockbuster clash of the round will be the stoush between Nagambie and Murchison-Toolamba.
After getting within a kick of Avenel in the opening round Nagambie was smashed by an impressive Merrigum in the second round and will be looking to regain some credibility.
Violet Town, with a win and a loss in the opening rounds, won’t get a better chance to show it can match it with the best sides when it tackles the unbeaten Avenel while Shepparton East should continue its impressive start to the season against Undera at Undera.
In the clash at Violet Town Recreation Reserve, Avenel coach Kasey Duncan expects the majority of his squad to be back on deck by Thursday night.
“It (the Easter weekend) was really good,” Duncan said.
“Some of the guys were looking forward to the week off to get away with family and friends, but it actually worked really well for us with a few guys coming down with COVID-19.
“We probably would have been without five or six of our better players, so it ended up working really well for us.
“They are always hard to beat up there on what is a smaller ground.
“We feel if can negate the influence of their key forwards, that will go a long way to us winning the game, while we will also look to rely on our usual midfield dominance.
“We should also welcome a few boys back, which will be huge for us. Hayden Heta will return and give us a big boost in the ruck and up forward, Dean Giles will come back into our defence, while I should also return as well.”
