Round eight of the Deniliquin and District Soccer Association season was played at Rotary Park on Saturday.

There were a few close games and even a draw to come out of the results.
A-grade:
A2 (light blue) 4 lost to A3 (dark green) 5.
It was a really tight game in the end, with two goals each for Jarrah Valentine and Daniel Burn.
There were some great forward scoring efforts from the Thompson boys, and Ruth Hornung played ferociously all day, keeping goals in the second half.
Best on ground - Jarrah Valentine and Ruth Hornung; Sportsmanship - Daniel Burn and Mitchell Thompson.
A1 (dark blue) 1 lost to A4 (burgundy) 4.
This was an excellent game, played by both the kids and adults.
The blue team let one slip past the goalkeeper, but the burgundy team quickly made the score equal with a goal of their own.
The adults held their ground for the rest of the time.

B-grade:
B1 (dark green) 1 lost to B4 (green/white) 3.
It's not always about winning the game, it's about how you play the game.
The greens encouraged each other, and we were grateful for the players who filled in and made up half the team, with many away.
After a few unsteady weeks, B4 was back fighting with a fantastic team effort.
Lucy Loughridge got two awesome goals and Levi Robson stopped a penalty kick in the dying last minutes.

B2 (burgundy) 3 drew B3 (blue) 3.
Benedict Ross made a team switch in the second half, which was the catalyst for an unexpected comeback to draw the game after an awesome solo goal.
Best on ground - Amelia Thompson and Benedict Ross; Sportsmanship - Huxley Lilford and Benedict Ross.
C-grade:
C1 (yellow) 5 def C4 (orange) 1.
Both teams played well, despite the orange team missing some good players.
C1 noticed C4’s weakness and played to their advantages.
Both teams showed good sportsmanship towards each other.
Best on ground - George Pisasale and Elka Lilford; Sportsmanship - Millie Hall and Henry Lowe.
C2 (purple) 3 def C3 (green) 2.
It was a fantastic and intense game, with both teams fighting very hard to keep the ball.
The purple team came from behind to win in a nail-biter.
Goals from Luca Sztejman, Jed Chadderton, and Steele Dunn had the crowd cheering, while Jack Nappier, George Allitt, and Jack Gunn turned defence into an art form.
Best on ground - Mitchell Burn and Matilda Bootsman; Sportsmanship - Arabella Hayes and Mason Howard.
D-grade:
D1 (dark green) 1 lost to D4 (light green) 8.
George McMahon played fantastically, scoring a hat trick of goals.
There was another great goal from half field by Ted Pisasale, but Belle Hall kicked the goal of the match.
Best on ground - George McMahon and Belle Hall; Sportsmanship - Tia Penrith and Gabrielle Olabampe.
D2 (grey) 2 def D3 (red) 1.
It was an intense game of soccer, with both teams defending well and very few shots on goal.
Everyone got involved and there were some great individual performances.
Evie Robson kicked a goal in the first half, and it looked like it could be enough, but the grey team scored two goals late in the second half to steal the win.
Vianni Ross was excellent in defence for red, and worked well with Axel Doidge, who is ever reliable at the back.
