The Greater Shepparton City Council has acknowledged it has received the petition objecting to the fluoridation of Tatura's town water.
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Tuesday, December 17, the petition containing 1446 signatures was marked as received by the council.
The acknowledgment came after the Anti-Fluoridation Action Group campaigned for months to stop fluoride being added to Tatura's water.
Group spokesperson Sharon Hopkins recently travelled to Melbourne to hand the petition to Health Minister Jenny Mikakos.
The Department of Health is the body responsible for adding fluoride to town water.
Although there is yet to be a formal proposal of fluoride being added to Tatura's water, a feasibility study is under way.
