The club extends its thanks to Riverina Watermatic, Cleaner Carpets, MRT Spraying and Landmark for sponsoring this important annual event.
We will again welcome visitors to the club for our classic, which is a fourball best ball stableford played over Saturday and Sunday.
Players are reminded there will be a barbecue operating on both days, with sausages and hamburgers available for a gold coin donation.
Last Saturday was the monthly medal, taken out by John Penna with a net 69. However, he did not win the A grade event which went to Lynne O’Brien who had an excellent 78 of the stick for a net 68.
B grade winner was George Maddison with 71, on countback from Dick Bolton, and in C grade Kaye Rourke showed her continuing improvement with net 70, from John Horn net 72.
Sunday was the Men’s Foursomes Championships, with the veteran and the ‘up and comer’, Graeme Willoughby and Jack Tonta, combining to win the scratch event. Net winners were Norm Purtill and Noel Swainger, with secretary/manager Norm claiming a history making win - C grade champion and foursomes in the same year.
Last Thursday the ladies played a stableford event, won by Prue Lloyd with 38 points, form Pam Taylor on 37.
Wednesday’s A grade stableford winner was Graeme Rothwell with 38 points on countback from Graeme Willoughby, and in B grade Albert Liebenberg with 38 points from runner-up Alan Lord on 37.
In the clubhouse, draws for the meat raffles tonight start at 7.30, with tickets available from 6pm. Meals are available.
Final results of last month’s Corporate Golf Day have been announced, and it raised an impressive $12,000 for the club thanks to the various sponsors and supporters. These included the auction, which raised nearly $3000 thanks to donations from Jamie and Meredith Tasker, Ashley Hall and the Golf Club (house boat cruise), Tocumwal Golf Resort, Cleaner Carpets, Noel and Jenny Swainger (racehorse memorabilia) and the Golf Club’s load of wood.
Good luck to all golfers in this weekend’s Classic.
