A 32 year-old man has been remanded in custody following an initial court appearance in Griffith today, on charges including use of a firearm in a manner likely to cause injury.
He was also charged with use of an unauthorised firearm and using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, and will appear in Griffith again on Wednesday.
Police say the woman remains in a critical condition.

A woman is in critical condition after being shot at Pretty Pine.
The 31 year-old suffered a gun shot wound to the head at a property on the Cobb Highway at Pretty Pine just after midnight this morning.
The woman's husband, a 32 year-old, was arrested and has been assisting police with their inquiries
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, including investigations into whether it was an accidental shooting.
There is no update yet this morning on whether charges have been laid.
Four other witnesses, two men and two women, are being spoken to by police.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Deniliquin Hospital before being airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital, in a critical condition.
A crime scene has been established which is being examined by specialist police.
