The service - held early so as not to coincide with the Deni Ute Muster operation - pays respect to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and to the sacrifice each officer has made to provide a safe and secure community.
Presiding over the service was police chaplain Reverend Canon Wayne Sheean, who began by honouring the fallen with a minute silence observed in solidarity.
All uniformed officers saluted during a touching National Anthem, followed by prayers and readings of dedication to those who were remembered.
Rev Sheean echoed the sentiments of all those who wish for peace, saying “we pray for our society that peace and justice may increase and all people be enabled to live with integrity, dignity and mutual respect”.
He also recognised that “no officer wants to lay down the law but it is their duty to uphold the law, maintain justice for society and protect the innocent and vulnerable”.
The heartfelt service concluded and all in attendance enjoyed a catch up over morning tea.
