The Truck Show committee has partnered with Deniliquin Rotary to put on the event, which will also have a new home from this year.
Traditionally held at Deniliquin’s Memorial Park, this year’s Truck Show will be held October 28 at the Deniliquin Racing Club.
There’s also a new name, with the event now called the Rotary Club of Deniliquin’s Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo.
Committee member and Rotarian Tony Kew said the aim was for a “bigger and better” Truck Show, and described the new partnership as “a great combination of like-minded organisations”.
“The Truck Show committee approached us because of the great management skills we could contribute to the event, complementing their excellent committee and volunteers.
“We have joined forces to bring a bigger, better Truck Show after years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic and devastating floods.
“Any proceeds will be equally shared and distributed throughout the community by each committee individually.
“All funds raised are donated back to the community.
“We (Rotary) have created a separate Truck Show committee to help make the event the best it can be.”
Deniliquin Truck Show committee president John Creenaune said the partnership with the Deniliquin Rotary Club would “bring a new dynamic to the organisation and delivery of the Truck Show’s activities”.
“The Truck Show has an all new outlook with the combined committees, and a new location at the Deniliquin Racing Club.
“The partnership between us will ensure the longevity of our event, and that it is a mainstay on Deni’s event calendar.
“Traditionally local Rotarians manned the entry gate to our show and shine and expo arena every year.
“Their dedication and expertise with events has made the perfect fit.
“This new partnership will bring more involvement at an executive level, and an opportunity to increase fundraising for initiatives supported by both committees.”
Part of the original Truck Show Committee have formed a sub-committee and will continue to host the Deniliquin and District Transport Wall of Fame dinner on Friday, October 27, and the memorial service on Sunday, October 29.
This includes long serving Truck Show committee members Warrick and Fiona Petersen, Janine Lowry, Lyn Rose and Brett Howitt.
“I'm extremely happy with the structure of our 2023 committees and the extensive list of event supporters that have volunteered their time so far,” Mr Creenaune said.
“Everyone will have an important role to play and it will make sure we bring to the community another successful show - especially now that we have the pandemic and high water events behind us. Understandably the last few years have been challenging for everyone.
“When our committee started talking about a partnership, Rotary was the obvious choice.
“We now have two volunteer organisations who give back to the local community working hand in hand.
“Our mission is to highlight, celebrate, commemorate and memorialise those locals who are and have been our local transport industry.”
