Mission on the job
Mobile Mission Maintenance have landed in Deniliquin and are working hard to get the soon-to-open Riverina Christian College looking fresh.
By Wednesday, the classroom building had been cleaned, undercoated and had its first top coat.
All that in just two days.
Mobile Mission Maintenance is a Christian mission working on building projects supporting christian outreach around the world.
Last month, the college was given approval to start operating in 2026 with Year 7 and 8 classes.
For the enrolment form link and to get updates on the school’s progress, go to www.facebook.com/RiverinaChristianCollege.
Learning resumes
It’s not just school-aged children who have returned to the classroom this week.
Deniliquin U3A has also started its term four timetable.
Part of the international University of the Third Age movement, its goal is to educate and engage retired or elderly members of the community (those in their ‘third age’).
Deniliquin U3A activities run during the NSW school term.
Similar to the first three terms, term four has a great mix of social activities and groups, and chances to increase knowledge.
Sessions are based at the Deniliquin RSL Club, unless otherwise specified.
Queries regarding the timetable can be directed to Lorraine Plant on 0414 486 482. Anyone interested in being a guest speaker is also invited to contact Lorraine.
Reach out for help
October is Mental Health Month, and last Friday was World Mental Health Day - a timely reminder that mental health is just as vital as physical health.
This month, communities across the region are focusing on the power of connection, support, and wellbeing.
Edward River Council noted through feedback gathered for the Community Strategic Plan: Towards 2035, one of the strongest themes to emerge was the need for caring, healthy, connected, and inclusive communities.
This Mental Health Month, we’re also encouraging everyone to connect when it counts.
A simple conversation with a friend, family member, or mental health professional can make a world of difference, especially when small struggles begin to feel overwhelming.
Anyone requiring crisis support can contact Accessline on 1800 800 944, Lifeline Australia on 13 11 14, BeyondBlue on 1300 224 636 or Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800.
