They were discovered when his car was stopped on the Newell Highway, about 11.30pm on Sunday, August 24.
Murray River Police District officers searched the vehicle and located 15 boxes allegedly containing 87,900 cigarettes, 50 vapes and 10.5kg of loose-leaf tobacco.
The items have an estimated potential combined street value of almost $236,700.
A 41 year-old male was arrested and charged with convey tobacco products with intent to defraud revenue (Customs Act 1901), and possess commercial quantity of vaping goods (Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act).
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Finley Local Court on Tuesday, September 23.
Police will allege in court the items seized were bound for Forbes, Leeton and Narrandera.
Echuca’s charity sleep out
St Mary’s Catholic Church, Echuca is hosting an event to raise money and awareness for local homelessness issues.
The church will host the Cold Reality Rural Homelessness Awareness Night Sleep Out in collaboration with U-choose Independent Support Services and Echuca Moama Community Projects.
From 6pm tonight, residents can roll out a mattress or swag in an outdoor sleeping area, or opt to spend the night inside the church.
U-choose program manager Sallyanne Dobson said guest speakers had been organised to shed light on the extent of homelessness in the region.

Cobram murder arrest
Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following the death of a woman in Cobram last week.
A 45 year-old Cobram man was charged Wednesday last week with murder and will shortly face Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
The charge follows an incident in Cobram a day earlier, where a 32 year-old Cobram woman was killed.
Emergency services were initially called to a Christie Ave address about 5am and located the woman.
Two young children inside the address were not physically injured during the incident.
