The award is in honour of Lee Stephenson, who was instrumental in introducing ART 4 CFA to the community after she was inspired to hold a fundraiser for small, local volunteer brigades.
It is well over a decade since Lee had this insight, leading to the first event at Trawool.
Over the years, shows have been held at Tallarook, Glenaroua, Hilldene and Whiteheads Creek brigades as well.
From humble beginnings, the exhibition has become extremely popular in the District 12 brigade area.
The creations of 12 artists will be on display, including works in oil, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, pastel and sculpture.
In addition to holding an art exhibition as a community event, the intention is for the general public to have an opportunity to see inside a fire station, ask questions and learn how things are run, with the possibility of attracting new members to the CFA.
Opening night is on Thursday, March 28 at 6.30pm. The exhibition will run throughout the Easter long weekend.
Commission from the sale of works will be donated to the Tallarook brigade.
The Lee Stephenson Award will be presented to the winner by Lee’s husband, Roger, at the end of the show on Easter Monday.
Come along during Easter to cast your vote and enjoy checking out the inside of a fire station, as well as viewing excellent artwork.
