The gala regional business awards presentations were meant to be held in Whitton on October 21, but were postponed due to flooding impacts.
The awards will instead be be held this Thursday.
Deniliquin and district has a nominee in 10 of the 14 awards categories, and in one case two nominees for one award.
The awards recognise and celebrate business growth, resilience, entrepreneurship and success across the region.
SunRice Group has submitted its own nomination for the Excellence in Sustainability award category, joining Grass Roots Finance who won a finalist spot after claiming the same award at the Deniliquin Business Excellence Awards.
The other nine nominees were also elevated to the regional awards after wins at the Deniliquin awards night, hosted by the Deniliquin Business Chamber on August 26.
The other local nominees are as follows:
- Employer of Choice - Deniliquin Children’s Centre.
- Outstanding Employee - Simon Genoff (Deniliquin Betta Home Living).
- Excellence in Micro Business - Olivia’s Lash Cave.
- Excellence in Small Business - The Depot Historic Vehicle and Memorabilia Collection.
- Excellence in Large Business - SunRice Group.
- Outstanding Young Business Leader - Angela Carmichael (Big River Real Estate).
- Outstanding Business Leader - Lourene Liebenberg (Minding Minds).
- Outstanding New Business - Small Trading Co.
- Outstanding Community Organisation - South West Music Regional Conservatorium.
The local nominees will be up against other finalists from across the Murray-RIverina, which includes the Albury, Corowa, Griffith, Leeton, Temora, Tumut and Wagga regions.
All regional winners will then go on to compete against the best from across NSW at the State Business Awards.
