With more than 40 paintings on display, the exhibition captures the irreverent, larrikin Australian spirit in a way that appeals to people from all walks of life.
The exhibition opening will be celebrated with a ‘Scones & Satire’ event tomorrow from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
Guest speaker will be Museum of the Riverina manager Luke Grealy, who is a close friend of Bald Archy founder Peter Batey.
Tickets for the opening event are available on Eventbrite or from the Peppin Heritage Centre.
This fabulous exhibition will run through until September 1, 2024.
Now in its 28th year, the Bald Archy prize has become Australia’s most popular satirical portrait award.
Winning subjects have included Kerry Packer, Shane Warne, John Howard, Pauline Hanson and a myriad of other Australian icons.
Judged by Professor Maude Cockatoo, the world’s premier avian art critic, it gives a genuine opportunity to artists of all styles and standards to create portrait paintings of humour, satire or caricature.
