They were there for the highly anticipated 2025 Australian Jamboree, which had the theme of ‘Bush 2 Beach’.
Among the excited participants were Benalla Guides Olivia, Rebecca, Emily, Viola from Benalla P-12 College and FCJ College.
Departing early on September 28, the girls flew to Murwillumbah to kick off a week filled with friendship, growth and discovery.
The jamboree offered a safe and inclusive space for girls to connect, challenge themselves and build lifelong friendships.
It was a celebration of leadership, resilience and empowerment — shaping tomorrow’s leaders through hands-on experiences and shared adventures.
Activities ranged from beach outings and leadership workshops to arts and crafts, STEM challenges, cow milking and even flight simulators.
Every girl, regardless of ability, had the chance to explore new interests and develop practical life skills in a supportive environment.
Benalla Guides leader Di McKenna encouraged all Guides to attend at least one jamboree during their journey, describing it as “invaluable”.
She highlighted the friendships, independence and confidence gained, saying these experiences empowered young women to become bold, capable leaders.
Guides leader Mel Goodwin, who accompanied the Benalla contingent, was deeply moved by the transformation she witnessed.
“The girls grew in leaps and bounds,” she said.
“Their confidence and independence soared — it was incredible to watch them bloom. They returned home energised and ready to take on life’s challenges with courage and joy.”
Upon their return, the Guides shared stories of their adventures with younger members, inspiring them to believe in themselves and embrace every opportunity Guides has to offer.
The Australian Jamboree 2025 was more than just a camp — it was a launchpad for future leaders, and the Benalla Guides proved they’re ready to take on the world.
