Filling the void in the middle of the Deni Rovers and Katunga match, the band belted out some instrumental tunes for the footy fans gathered.
Among them was the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline, which was a crowd favourite and had the young ones dancing.
Already coming to Deniliquin as guests of the Deniliquin Salvation Army for a concert, the band reached out to the Deniliquin Rovers Football & Netball Club to offer their services.
The Rovers were the only club to have a home game for the King’s Birthday long weekend.
The band members backed up the short open-air performance with their scheduled concert at the Salvation Army Hall that evening.
Neighbourhood Watch in effect
A Neighbourhood Watch style warning was issued to Deniliquin and district residents via social media at the weekend.
A Barham Rd resident reported suspicious vehicle movements in the area, and warned others to also be on the lookout.
The car spotted was a white dual cab ute.
If you see or suspect a crime has taken place, you can call Deniliquin Police on 5881 9299 or CrimeStoppers on 1300 333 000.
No Diary
You might expect to see a slightly fuller Mathoura Diary than normal this Friday, after technical issues prevented columnist Eileen Day from delivering her weekly musings last week.
Daisy, as she is affectionately known, had hoped to send us the missing news in time for today’s edition.
Unfortunately that was not possible.
Anything still relevant is expected to be included when the Diary makes it return (hopefully) in this Friday’s edition.
